How Do We Value Your Car?

There are a range of factors that will determine how much your car is worth. To give you a clearer picture of how we will arrive at your car’s value here is an outline of the main areas that will help us decide on a fair and accurate price for you.

Make & Model

Certain makes, models and limited editions are more desirable than others and there can be a huge range of factors which influence the desirability of your car. Some cars retain their value more than others and customer demand is a huge factor in this. If there is huge demand but limited stock on the market, then the price will be higher here .

The Overall Condition of Your Car

Any damage to the exterior paintwork of your car will affect its value. Dents, scratches, stone chips and scuffed alloy wheels and other signs of wear and tear will lower its price compared to the same model with no imperfections however we are very generous in how we value these and don’t go out of our way to highlight them to de-value your car like other companies.

Mileage

A car with lower mileage for its relative age will retain more of its value compared to a car with high mileage. To estimate if your car has low or above average mileage work on the rough estimate of 10,000 miles per year since it was registered. With proper maintenance, cars can have a life expectancy of about 200,000 miles.

Service History & Manufacturer’s Warranty

A car with a full-service history and paperwork to support regular maintenance will provide buyers with an extra layer of assurance and make your car more desirable. If your car is still covered by the manufacturer’s warranty this will be a huge selling point and will increase the value of your car.

Optional Extras

Certain extras can add desirability to the value of your car, these could include any extra ‘packs’ such as winter packs with extra heated seating in the front and or back seats, entertainment packs with DVD’s in the rear headrests or upgraded alloy wheels.  Make sure you mention any extras you have added onto the specification of your car.

Current Market Price

The price of your car is based on supply and demand which is fed by live market data. All car dealers and valuers have access to this so they can give you the very latest and most accurate price at the time of your valuation.

Number Of Previous Owners

Cars with fewer previous owners are usually worth more as this gives a buyer a feeling of security around their purchase. Cars with multiple owners over a short space of time can indicate potential unresolved problems or high unsustainable running costs.

These are the core valuation factors that all car dealers and buyers will use to inform their final price calculations however until your car has been viewed in person no valuation will ever be final by any company. Our online valuation process is fair and gives you a generous indication of what we will be willing to pay, and we often give more money than other car buying companies once we have seen your vehicle.
